Development Plans, March 7th, 2021


Hey all,

I'm currently working on version 2.6 of BtSP. It's been a long process and I'm still quite a ways out, but it's important to me to take my time and really think through how I want this part of the game to go. 2.6 is going to feature the next set of dates for the characters, as well as many other fixes and our first music track. 

While I'm extremely excited, I've also been accepted into a research group with my university. I'll be doing a personal study in astrophysics and that will extend into motion graphics and ultimately a presentation of my own making. I won't expand further on that because I think it speaks for itself how busy I'll be. It's my dream to get work in this field.

That being said, I won't be giving up on any of my current projects. I decided after update 2.5 that I want to release versions with a little more content. I make this game by myself, art, programming, writing, everything (besides the music track.) I really appreciate the support but I have to accept my limits with my research also being present. 

My plan for moving forward with BtSP is to continue trying to complete the game by the end of September. After completion I'll turn around and add a few more things, change some others, but I want it to be a standalone title at that point. I think that my goal will be to cut out unnecessary parts of the game from my schedule until I can complete the main story and some of the more important cameos. While I have a lot of fun designing minigames and adding in a lot of fun extra dates I find it stressful that I put so much work in but don't make any progress toward the conclusion. All of the characters at this point lack most of the important scenes I intend for them and that's not acceptable to me. I feel that I should make the core game first and fill it out after it's mostly done so the project doesn't drag on forever.

Thanks again for the support. Without it, I'd not be able to continue making this game. I hope that I can continue to deliver something that you're all excited about! Thanks for being patient, as well. I get a bit anxious at times, knowing that if my week gets busy nothing in the game progresses forward. You've all been very kind and understanding so far. I'll release version 2.5 here in the next few days.

TLDR: Game development slowing a bit to make each update a bit meatier, got research with university going on at the same time, thanks for everything, still on track for a full finished release in late September.
