Where this been?

Hello! You may have been curious why Rapturous hasn't had any updates lately.

I spent around a month redoing a lot of the game, pouring a bunch of effort into new scenes, new mechanics, and fixing a ton of issues that kept cropping up. Unfortunately, while they were fixed inside of the unity editor, I realized that a dialogue and UI handler I built the game off of was introducing an intrusive event system into the game when it exports.
In plain words, some code I brought in to cover my own shortcomings with handling long scripts is breaking the game. The whole game requires that handler to function predictably, so Rapturous is basically in suspended animation until I can rebuild the whole game from the ground up, or remove all of the parts of it I'm most proud of so far.

This is obviously not ideal, and at the same time I was given a position with a large university to do some work. So I was on a full-time schedule, burned out, and my game was tragically broken in a way I couldn't easily fix. It was a bit of a dark time, admittedly!

===========================================================

In the time between then and now, I spent a lot more time learning about Unity . I've been working on a few things behind the scenes I hope to debut soon.

I'm not really proud of having to put such a large pause on Rapturous, but at this time I'm going to continue making new content. I intend to continue using the plotlines and characters of Rapturous in another form. This is difficult for me because I spent hundreds of hours programming, drawing, writing, and reworking on this project in the last year.

I've left my university position and I'm going to come back to full-time art and game production. It's a nervewracking choice but I'm really optimistic and excited.
My hope is that you'll stick with me and continue getting excited for my projects as I keep growing as a creator! I've learned a lot from my past projects, and I'm excited for what's to come. Thanks all!

I’m glad you are doing better now! It is exciting to see this game to come through!

I am glad to hear that, even though things would not go according to plans you have had, you still are optimistic and excited to continue on your path as a creator! Whatever hardships and adventures your life throws your way, I believe you are the type to take it all and collect everything good this experience has to offer, turning it into new wisdom, new skills and new creations. Thus, the way you speak about studying Unity and seeking for ways to overcome complications with Rapturous, for example, makes me quite hyped about what this new experience means for new projects you might produce using this engine, be it Rapturous: Rebuilt or new creations.

I shall definitely stick with you and your amazing creativity, for it inspires me very much. Thank you very much once more for sharing your projects with us, I am looking forward to new art, game projects et cetera!

Thank you, I hope to impress! I've learned so much more about unity in the last few months, and it's really filled me with inspiration going forward. Stay tuned.

So once you are able to find all the issues and bugs that are causing problems in your game project currently at the moment, will you be able to still use the original content you started out with which mainly involved the demonic main character being able to travel to other worlds to collect the energy he needs to fulfill the quota for his superiors plus also the time's he was interacting with all the current characters that have shown up in your game as well as everything else that was tied into all the writing and artwork you used so far to introduce them to any/all players who've tried out your game so far, or will you have to do a complete reboot/remake/remaster of everything from the very start of it all to here and now to get everything the way you want it to play out smoothly as possible again?

sucks that everything broke because of code conflicts, but that kinda stuff happens. we are all glad you're not giving up on coding and other projects because of it though. I hope you remain happy working on the new stuff! we all wish you luck on those projects and we will definitely be sticking around to see those projects come to life! I hope you have as much fun making them as we will have playing/reading them!

I could potentially handle it if the errors happened in the program, but it explicitly only happens when I export the game, so any fix I put in becomes redundant.

I'm finally good enough to make my own handlers and UI, so future projects wont have the same issue. Thanks for the support!

I only hope you won't have any kind of issues and future projects you work on as you have had so far with your current visual novel game project, that is currently titled as Rapturous at the moment for now.

Hi :3
It's a shame that you had to let Rapturous go, but I get how moody code can sometimes get.
Leaving univerity job was a big choice as well I imagine, hopefully art gods will bless you with great art career x3
And I too am excited for what's to come.
I really liked your past projects, so I can only imagine how good your future creations will get :D

It was a huge punch in the gut for me. I introduced that package to help make the game more stable and easier to work with, but it ended up causing so many issues.
I hope you'll enjoy what comes next! I'm not giving up on making things, just trying to put my development time toward the right projects.

I don't want to come across as too nosey and/or pushy by asking you this question but you will still be able to bring back all the characters, artwork, mechanics and so on that you first used at the start of making this right up to this moment now although/however/but they'll be changed in some matter from the slightest of tweaks to the most drastic of remake/reboot/remaster that's needed from beginning, middle, and/or, end to get everything you want to run as smoothly as possible again and also be close to the way you wanted it to be when you first began to work on it almost kind of similar to your other project that you started on some time ago known as "Between The Shrouded Peaks" (?).

I'll likely have to accept that a few months of work will need to be scrapped. Previous versions of rapturous ran much better, and ill likely rerelease those when I get a chance. In terms of completing Rapturous as a visual novel, I'm taking it off the table to give my full focus toward projects that just have a better release timeline.

If I might be able to ask you this question without revealing too many spoilers ahead of time, I'm kind of curious about whether you've come up with any kind of working titles for those other projects you've mentioned just now or if you're still in the process of working out a tile name for them right now at the moment?
